Esconet Revolutionizes Indian Defense with Cutting-Edge Cloud Infrastructure
In a groundbreaking initiative, Esconet has pioneered the development of a highly encrypted Cloud system for the Indian Army, ushering in a new era of innovation in the defense sector. The Army cloud is similar to Meghraj, a cloud system of National Informatics Center and would be used to provide all IT infrastructure which includes servers for computing, storage, network security equipment, etc.
The Challenge
The Indian Army faced operational inefficiencies stemming from a decentralized array of physical servers, each unit managing its communication systems. These servers, subjected to varied defects during movements and connectivity issues, required a continuous purchase of new parts, imposing both financial and logistical burdens. Additionally, ensuring secure data backups and robust disaster recovery plan proved to be a significant challenge.
Approach
Esconet thoroughly analysed the situation and proposed a private Cloud Server at a cost unmatched by the competitors. With a perfect match of high expertise and low cost, Esconet secured the government order.
Despite the Indian Army’s existing extensive optical fibre network across the country, concerns about data security led them to stick with traditional physical mobile servers. We introduced the Indian Army to the concept of a virtual server and demonstrated its efficiency and security, earning the trust of the Indian Army.
In this nationally significant project, Esconet played a central role, advising on overall IT hardware, network, and storage specifications, while also providing the complete software stack. The culmination of our efforts included designing a robust three-way disaster recovery mechanism with primary and near sites in Delhi and a far site in another part of India.

The Army private cloud model was later replicated by other defence forces in the country including the Air Force and Navy.
