Esconet Technologies : The Pole Star of National Capital Region IT Landscape

When Gordon Moore prophesized in 1965 that the no. of transistors will double every 2 years on a given integrated chip (IC), he possibly could not imagine that his prophecy will be true not only for transistors, but the final computing machines themselves!!

And that’s what happened when Cloud computing sprouted in early 2010s.

I still remember my early days in VMware in 2012…the sheer mention of data centres getting squeezed and transported on a small truck created a mass gasp of disbelief in the audience!! All wizards in the data centres gave me a disdainful look…as if I was snatching their vaunted jobs!!!

So much so, one senior official in Olive Green, who rose high in the hierarchy, even scolded me that he could not come across any such fantasy story while doing his MTech in an IIT!!

However, technology soon proved that it’s no more a sci-fi fantasy…one server machine was actually doing the job of, say, 10 machines…thereby drastically reducing the need for real estate, power, cooling and overall operational and maintenance cost!!!

But soon it became clear to me that the technology may not be a fantasy, but you still need someone to do it on ground…make that magic to happen. And here I found the real challenge…although the NCR with Nehru Place at its epicentre was teeming with so called partners, I literally struggled to find one who could really take it on!!

As I was running out of my time…and patience…cometh the challenge and cometh the man.

Out of nowhere, Mr Santosh Agarwal of Esconet Technologies stood up… like a Phoenix in a debris…and helped me out in delivering some critical Defence projects… the most notable ones being The Army Cloud hosted in Army HQ Computer Centre which was inaugurated by the then Defence Minister (Late) Shri Manohar Parrikar and the Combat Management System of Indian Navy implemented by Bharat Electronics Ltd, Ghaziabad.

Today, the Cloud has become a default place for the IT infrastructure to run. But in those initial days when the people were struggling to come to terms with this revolutionary concept, it was extremely difficult to find someone who could take on the challenges to work out the most optimal solution with utmost professional ethics. At that juncture it was a matter of sheer fortune for me to come across Santoshji as my saviour.

As all good things come to an end I had to take a call to move on…and find a better pasture outside VMware. Once again Santoshji, with his huge heart made me an offer which was irresistible. Joining him was like joining a family which was closely knit to run as a machine, well-oiled by professional integrity.

Though I had decided to make that as my last stop in my professional career, a quirky call from a senior made me accept another offer…that eventually became the end of my professional journey. But that’s another story.

Notwithstanding the ending, my journey as a professional is enriched by many experiences – involving a few stellar seniors and colleagues. It’s a matter of sheer luck…and privilege…that I came across Santoshji who will remain one of the brightest amongst them.

The IT landscape in NCR is never complete without him.
